During the Liberation War, the famous film director Shri Ritwik Ghatak Padmashree created public awareness by conducting cultural activities in support of the Bangladesh Liberation War. The war and the genocide had a great emotional impact on him. He successfully portrayed the struggle of the people of Bangladesh in his documentary titled 'Durbar Goti Padma'. He organized intellectuals and cultural activists of Bangladesh and helped create a movement in support of the Liberation War. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Shri Ritwik Ghatak Padmashree is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
