Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Shri Nepal Nag was a pioneering leader of Communist movement in Bangladesh. He was also involved in the trade union movement of Bangladesh. During the Liberation War, he extended all out support to the left guerrilla Freedom Fighters. He, along with his wife Shrimati Nibedita Nag, provided assistance to the refugees and their house indeed became a shelter for Freedom Fighters. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Shri Nepal Nag is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
