During the Liberation War, a popular actor of Bengali and Hindi films and a producer, Shri Biswajit R. Chatterjee played a leading role in creating public opinion in favour of Bangladesh by organizing the film actors and artists. Filmmaker Shri Ritwik Ghatak made a documentary based on the Liberation War, titled 'Durbar Goti Padma', in English titled 'There Flows Padma the Mother' with the financial support from Shri Biswajit R. Chatterjee, in which the latter also played a role. He, along with his colleagues, arranged meetings and cultural programmes for collecting funds, which were sent for the welfare of the refugees. For his great contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Shri Biswajit R. Chatterjee is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
