During the Liberation War, Dr. Nalinakkho Chowdhury was the Secretary of the Red Cross Society of Silchar, Assam. He regularly visited the refugee and Freedom Fighters camps in the border areas and provided treatment to the refugees and the wounded Freedom Fighters. He made donations himself and also collected funds from the affluent people and utilized them for providing the treatment. For his great contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Dr. Nalinakkho Chowdhury is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
