During the Liberation War, Shri Sukhdev Singh Sandhu visited battle fields and started making documentaries on the Liberation War. His films reflected the human dimensions of the war and the participation of the common people in the liberation movement, which was made available to the international communities. In 1972, he released his documentary titled 'Nine Months to Freedom: The Story of Bangladesh'. This documentary is considered one of the great artistic works on the Liberation War. For his remarkable support and contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Shri Sukhdev Singh Sandhu is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
