During the Liberation War, Shri Pritish Nandy Padmashree portrayed the true picture of the genocide in his poems and other writings. He had great contribution in mobilizing public opinion in India in favour of the Bangladesh Liberation War and organized various cultural programmes for raising funds for refugees. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Shri Pritish Nandy Padmashree is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
