During the Liberation War, Shri Harinarayan Chakravarti allowed 665 acres of land in his Kallyanpur tea garden for the use of refugees and the Freedom Fighters. In this tea garden, 1,100 Freedom Fighters received training from Colonel Dhar of the Indian Army. He extended full cooperation at all times to politicians, Freedom Fighters and government officials from Bangladesh. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Shri Harinarayan Chakravarti is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
