The Swedish Judge Janab Syed Asif Shahkar was the Joint Secretary of Punjab Students Union in Pakistan. In order to mobilize public opinion against genocide, he distributed leaflets and organized demonstrations. He also composed poems in support of the suffering humanity. He was arrested, tortured and given long-term jail sentence. The Pakistan Government branded him as a traitor. Later he migrated to Sweden. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Janab Syed Asif Shahkar is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
