During the Liberation War, Shri Ajit Kumar Das was the correspondent of UPI in Calcutta. He devoted himself to collection of information on the Liberation War and arranged to release those in the media. He assisted the political leaders of Bangladesh and provided them with necessary support so that their statements and appeals reached the people. He also played a key role in organizing meetings, processions and press conferences in favour of Bangladesh. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Shri Ajit Kumar Das is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
