Ms Margaret Rose Mawlong was Shillong's Magistrate during the Liberation War. She was responsible for supervision of relief work and providing assistance to women and children in the refugee camps. For the long nine months, she was away from home and worked relentlessly in the border areas. For her dedication to work, she was known as the 'Lady with the Lamp' in the area. For her great contribution towards the Liberation War, Ms Margaret Rose Mawlong is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
