During the Liberation War, Shri Bashab Sarkar regularly covered the news on Liberation War and published them in the 'Anandabazar' newspaper. He had great contribution in mobilizing public opinion in India in favour of Bangladesh and organized various cultural programmes for raising funds for Freedom Fighters. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Shri Bashab Sarkar is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
