During the Liberation War, Shrimati Nandini Satpathy was the Minister for Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. She had great contribution in mobilizing public opinion in India and the outside world in favour of Bangladesh. For her great contribution in the Liberation War, Shrimati Nandini Satpathy is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
