CITATION
During the Liberation War, Shri Sashanka S Banerjee was an officer of the High Commission of India in UK. He was an untiring voice against the genocide committed by Pakistan Army in Bangladesh. In the diplomatic circle of UK, he pursued different countries to support Bangladesh. He encouraged and assisted Bangladeshis in UK to continue their movement for freedom. After release of Bangabandhu from Pakistan prison, he accompanied him in the flight from London to Dhaka via New Delhi. For his great contribution, Shri Sashanka S Banerjee is awarded the Friends of Liberation War Honour.
