During the Liberation War, Shri Mrinmoy Bhattacharyya was the Secretary General of West Bengal College and University Teachers Association. This organization arranged many meetings for creating public opinion in favour of Bangladesh. With the help of this organization which was run by Shri Mrinmoy Bhattacharyya intellectuals from Bangladesh visited many places of India and held discussions to justify their struggle for independence. For his great contribution, Shri Mrinmoy Bhattacharyya is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
