During the Liberation War, Dr Dhrubajyoti Lahiry was an executive member of West Bengal College and University Teachers Association and an active member of Calcutta University Bangladesh Shahayak Samity. He provided all out cooperation to the refugees from Bangladesh. He also worked for creating public opinion in favour of Bangladesh by holding meetings and seminars. For his great contribution, Dr Dhrubajyoti Lahiry is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
