During the Liberation War, Shri Dil Bahadur Lama being a trained police officer, on the instruction of his Government came to the bordering areas of Dinajpur and provided weapons and tactics training to Freedom Fighters. Due to his effort, the Freedom Fighters in the area became proficient on weapon handling and achieved success in the operations. For his great contribution, the former Inspector General of Police of Nepal Shri Dil Bahadur Lama is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
