Congress Leader Shri Girija Prasad Koirala entered the liberated areas of Bangladesh in the month of May in 1971 to demonstrate support to the just cause of Bangladesh. He met the Freedom Fighters in the battle fields and provided moral support to them. For his remarkable support and contribution, Shri Girija Prasad Koirala is awarded Bangladesh Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
