CITATION
During the Liberation War, the retired Swedish Air Force officer Sven Lampell was working as an officer of the Red Cross in Dhaka. He maintained communication with Freedom Fighters and expressed his empathy towards them in various ways. Later, as the Head of the Red Cross, he received the resignation of Dr. A. M. Malik, the Head of the puppet Government. As an expression of his solidarity with the cause of Bangladesh, he adopted a war child of 1971. For his strong support towards the Liberation War, Sven Lampell is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
