CITATION
During the Liberation War, Vice Admiral Swaraj Prakash was in command of INS Vikrant, the hub of Indian naval operations in the Bay of Bengal. He conducted several air strikes from INS Vikrant on the Pakistan Army and Navy positions in the Chittagong area, causing casualties to them and devastating their morale. Owing to his effective plans, INS Vikrant dominated the high seas and blocked the supply route for Pakistan defence forces. In recognition of his strategic and bold leadership, Vice Admiral Swaraj Prakash was awarded Maha Vir Chakra by the Indian Government. For his great contribution, Vice Admiral Swaraj Prakash Maha Vir Chakra is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
