During the Liberation War, Dr Amiya K. Chaudhuri was an active member of Calcutta University Bangladesh Shahayak Samity. He used to help the Bangladeshi intellectuals by collecting funds for them through cultural programmes which he arranged along with other members of the organization. He attended many seminars all over India to raise public awareness in favour of Bangladesh. For his great contribution, Dr Amiya K. Chaudhuri is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
