CITATION
During the Liberation War, Shri Himangshu Mohan Choudhury Padmashree was the SDO of the bordering Shonamura sub-division of Tripura. He had set up 16 large refugee camps. When the Pakistan Army started shelling on Shonamura town, he faced the situation with bravery and was able to bring normalcy. He extended maximum cooperation to the Freedom Fighters. For his efforts in maintaining law and order and relentless hard work in helping the refugees, on 26 January 1972, he was awarded Padmashree by the Indian Government. For his great contribution, Shri Himangshu Mohan Choudhury Padmashree is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
