During the Liberation War, Shri Anil Kumar Sarkar was an active member of Calcutta University Bangladesh Shahayak Samity. He provided assistance to Freedom Fighters and refugees and shelter to the teachers from Bangladesh at his residence and in hostels. He also provided valuable cooperation to the intellectuals from Bangladesh in many ways. For his great contribution, Shri Anil Kumar Sarkar is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
