CITATION
During the Liberation War, Lieutenant General Iwaichi Fujiwara provided valuable assistance to the Bangladeshi community living in Japan. He organized a group which raised funds for purchase of wireless equipments and relief materials and sent those to the Bangladesh Government. He provided assistance to the Bangladeshi diplomats who defected from the Pakistan Embassy in Japan in support of the Liberation War. Under the banner of a social organization called 'Public Diplomacy Organization', he organized seminars and meetings which helped create public opinion and moral support in favour of Bangladesh. Further, through this organization, repeated appeal was made to the Government of Japan to support the cause of Bangladesh. For his great contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Lieutenant General Iwaichi Fujiwara is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
