During the Liberation War, under the leadership of Shri Vivekananda Mukherjee, a number of young reporters of the then Bengali daily newspaper 'Jugantor' prepared and published reports on the Liberation War. They projected the true picture of the war to the people. He also wrote a good number of reports on the Liberation War. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Shri Vivekananda Mukherjee is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
