CITATION
During the Liberation War, the reputed photographer Shri Binay Roy was the head of the camera unit of Indian Film Division which was engaged in preparing news reel and documentaries for creating awareness in India and abroad on the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was the first Indian photographer to enter Bangladesh after the 25th March genocide and the 26th March declaration of independence by Bangabandhu and collected photographs which were exhibited in the news relay in the cinema halls all over India. Later, in the films prepared on the Liberation War, his photographs were extremely used. For his great contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Shri Binay Roy is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
