During the Liberation War, Janab Muzammil Ali Laskar, a renowned lawyer of Silchar, Assam and 20 other lawyers formed a volunteer group which regularly visited different refugee and Freedom Fighters camps and distributed relief goods among refugees collected from Silchar area. In different public meetings and seminars, he appealed to the people especially the Muslim community, not to be misled by the Pakistani propaganda, and support the cause for Bangladesh Liberation. For his great contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Janab Muzammil Ali Laskar is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
