CITATION
During the Liberation War, Janab Maulana Syed Asad Madani as a member of Indian Rajya Sabha and Central Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, in the party convention held in Delhi on 27 April and in Calcutta on 18 August passed resolutions condemning the genocide in Bangladesh, expressing condemnation and appealed to people of India to do the same. On 16 July in Delhi and on 17 August in Panipat, his party organized massive rallies in favour of Bangladesh which was chaired by the Second-in-Command of Azad Hind Fauj, General Shahnewaz Khan. On 24 November, he appealed to the Rajya Sabha to support the Liberation War and on the same day led a huge procession demanding release of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also sent representatives to the Muslim countries to create public opinion in favour of Bangladesh. For his great contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Janab Maulana Syed Asad Madani is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
