William Mark Tully, a correspondent for BBC was stationed in London when the Liberation War started. His reports and commentaries inspired the Freedom Fighters in the war front and the freedom seeking people of Bangladesh. Through his reports, the true picture of the war situation and the importance and justification of the Liberation War was made clear and this resulted in getting worldwide support for our struggle for freedom. For his great contribution in the Liberation War, Sir William Mark Tully OBE, Padma Bhushan, Padmashree is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
