During the Liberation War, Sven Strömberg was the coordinator of the famous television programme 'Aktuelt'. His compassionate and neutral reports on Liberation War helped create public awareness and sympathy towards the cause of the Liberation War in the Scandinavian countries. He visited liberated areas of Bangladesh and prepared reports on the success of the Freedom Fighters. He was present at the surrender ceremony of the Pakistan Army on 16 December 1971. He also visited the Rayerbazar killing ground, documented and published reports on the mass killings of the intellectuals. He adopted a war child and named him Joy - Nicholas Mojes Joy. For his great contribution, Sven Strömberg is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
