During the Liberation War, Shri Amiya Tarafdar took rare photographs of the misery and destitution of the refugees in the refugee camps and the barbaric activities of Pakistan Army. A large number of his photographs were printed in the international press which attracted the attention of the world community. These photographs helped in obtaining international support for Bangladesh. He also captured photographs of some extraordinary moments on Bangabandhu's return from Pakistan. For his remarkable support and contribution, Shri Amiya Tarafdar is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
