During the Liberation War, Shri Hiranmoy Karlekar was a journalist of the Daily Statesman. He reported on the war and also wrote news analysis which revealed the atrocities of Pakistan Army and justified the legitimacy and support provided by Government of India to Bangladesh. As a fearless journalist, he portrayed the true picture of the Liberation War. These reports helped in mobilizing mass support in India and abroad. For his remarkable support and contribution, Shri Hiranmoy Karlekar is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
