At the beginning of the Liberation War, Dr. Lincoln C. Chen was a research physician at the Cholera Research Laboratory in Dhaka. He witnessed the genocide conducted by the Pakistan Army. After returning to Washington DC, he helped set up an organization named ‘Friends of Bangladesh’. This organization held demonstrations in various places in USA in favour of Bangladesh. He also organized seminars and educational programmes in favour of Bangladesh’s cause, which helped create public opinion. He also participated actively in fund raising for Bangladeshi refugees. For his great contribution towards the Liberation War, Dr. Lincoln C. Chen is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
