During the Liberation War, Professor Herbert Feith was an active member of the committee to support Bangladesh, which was formed in Melbourne, Australia. In September 1971, he delivered a series of lectures on refugees and their humanitarian conditions at the Department of Asian Studies in Flinders University. His scholarly responses to the crisis were reflective of his support to the cause of suffering humanity. For his great contribution, Herbert Feith is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
