CITATION
Janab Anwer Pirzado was a pilot of Pakistan Air Force and a poet of Sindhi language. After the election of 1970, he wrote a letter to one of his colleagues praising the leadership of Bangabandhu, which was intercepted by the Intelligence agency. His letter read, "Sheikh Mujib is the true leader of the Pakistanis. Power must be handed over to him peacefully as he has won the election; otherwise, the consequences may be grave." As a result, he was tried for treason in a martial law court, dismissed from service and sentenced to imprisonment for seven years. Being aggrieved to learn about the genocide while in jail, he wrote a unique poem titled '26 March 1971'. For his great contribution, Janab Anwer Pirzado is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour (Posthumous).
