During the Liberation War, Heiji Nakamura was an active member of Bangladesh Solidarity Front in Japan. He helped raise public awareness in support of Bangladesh by writing to newspapers about the brutal offensives launched by Pakistan Army. He also played a pioneering role in raising funds for the refugees of Bangladesh. For his great contribution, Heiji Nakamura is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
