During the Liberation War, Shri Pranabranjan Ray was an active member of Calcutta University Bangladesh Shahayak Samity and Shilpi-shahityik-buddhijibi Bangladesh Shahayak Samity. He organized various programmes and exhibitions for raising funds for the Freedom Fighters and refugees. He participated in public meetings for raising public opinion in favour of Bangladesh. For his great contribution to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Shri Pranabranjan Ray is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
