CITATION
From the earliest days of the Liberation War, Joan A. Dine, along with her husband Thomas A. Dine, was active in support of Bangladesh. When the Bangladesh Information Centre was established in Washington DC in 1971 to mobilize public and political support in the US for Bangladesh, she voluntarily worked for the centre virtually on a full time basis. In this task, she not only played an active role in preparing material and briefing Bangladeshi and US campaigners for the passage of the Saxby-Church Amendment to stop USAID to Pakistan, but also took part in public demonstrations in support of Bangladesh where she took along with her one-year old daughter Amy Dine. For her remarkable contribution in the Liberation War, Joan A. Dine is awarded Friends of Liberation War Honour.
